Over the last fifty years, the importance of flow measurement has grown, not only because of its widespread use for accounting purposes, such as the custody transfer of fluid from supplier to consumer, but also because of its application in manufacturing processes. Throughout this period, performance requirements have become more stringent — with unrelenting pressure for improved reliability, accuracy, linearity, repeatability and rangeability.

The objective of this course is to familiarize the participants with the various standards that apply to the production of plant drawings, diagrams and documentation. The topics contained in the course are of interest and relevance to all users of documentation whether they are designers of electrical installations, erection engineers or personnel responsible for operation and maintenance of the installations

On earth, mankind currently largely relies on the various nonrenewable energy resources such as coal, oil and natural gas. These fossil fuels draw energy from finite resources which eventually will either get depleted or their extraction will become environmentally and economically nonviable.

The need for power transmission and distribution through HV cables, as well as their advantages and disadvantages compared with overhead power lines. We will also discuss the different types of high voltage cables, the need for jointing/termination, as well as various types of jointing/termination kits that are available in the market.

Electrical energy is one of the most widely consumed forms of energy by the industrial, residential and commercial applications. It is therefore necessary to measure and monitor various important electrical parameters at the source end as well as at the consumption points of electrical systems for purposes of monitoring, calculating consumption, billing and protection.

The primary intention of any power utility is to provide uninterrupted power supply to its consumers. Unfortunately, interruptions can and do happen occasionally.

A well planned and designed preventative maintenance program keeps equipment/facilities in satisfactory operational state by providing for systematic inspection, detection, and correction of incipient failures either prior to their occurrence or prior to their development into major failure.

One of the most effective ways of communicating one’s ideas is through drawings or graphics. For many years various types of drawings, sketches and paintings have been used to convey ideas and information. A good recognizable picture reduces ambiguity while discussing a project. The two basic skills required by an engineer are: to plan the work and then to work the plan. Engineers and technical personnel associated with an engineering organization use drawings to convey graphically the ideas and plan necessary for execution and completion of a project involving construction or assembly of components or systems.
