Overseas Qualification Equivalency

For entry into most EIT degree programs, you need to have completed a minimum level of education similar to successful completion of Australian Year 12 with good grades. Some examples of upper secondary qualifications and a guide to the minimum grades that EIT will consider are listed below.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma – Minimum aggregate score of 24

General Certificate of Education Advanced Levels (GCE “A Levels”) – Minimum grade of C in three subjects + a pass in Maths.

Ensino Geral Certificado de Habilitações/ Certificado de Habilitações (Secondary School Leaving Certificate) Note: In order to gain entry, an additional year of study following the qualification; this may include a Foundation Studies Program, one year of study at a higher education institute or equivalent. Please note no credit will be granted on the basis of these studies.

Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Grade average of 3.5 or above out of 5.

Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) / CXC Associate Degree awarded by the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC)

Higher Secondary Education Certificate (BHSEC)

Grade average of 60% in four academic subjects (including Maths and excluding any local languages).

Diploma awarded by the University of Botswana or accredited by the Botswana Qualifications Authority (BQA) may also be considered for Year 12 equivalency.

High School Diploma (from relevant Territory or Province) – Completed with an overall average of at least 60% in the final year of results, plus at least 60% in Maths (except Quebec)

Ontario Secondary School Diploma (or OSSD) – Completed with an overall average of at least 60% in the final year of results (average is calculated out of 6 University Preparation Subjects). plus at least 60% in Maths (except Quebec)

Licencia de Educacion Media (Certificate of Secondary Education)

Note: Grade average of 6.0 to 7.0 (Muy Bueno) or satisfactory completion of one year study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution

Successful completion of Gao Kao with an aggregate of the required individual subjects which is equivalent to 60% of the overall maximum score, or a grade of 288/480, 360/600, 450/750, 486/810 or 540/900 + a score of no less than 60% in Maths.

Bachiller / Bachillerato (Secondary School Certificate). Grade average of 60 percent (+ minimum of 60% in Maths) or satisfactory completion of one year study at a recognised tertiary or higher education institution. Fiji 7th form certificate – completed with an overall average (all subjects) of at least 60%

West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) showing at least 5 subjects passed with C6 or better (English compulsory)

Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) – minimum of 2 passes and 1 credit (including a pass in Maths)

Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) – a minimum of 15 points for four core subjects and 2 electives and a minimum of a C in Maths
(where:5* 5**=6, 5=5, 4=4, 3=3, 2=2, 1=1 & A*=6, A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1 & Attained with Distinction=3, Attained=1).

  • Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE): All India Senior School Certificate completed with 60% average in best 4 academic subjects (excluding local language and other non-academic subjects) in the final year + a minimum of 60% in Maths in the final year.

  • Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE): Indian School Certificate completed with 60% average in best 4 academic subjects (excluding local language and other non-academic subjects) in the final year + a minimum of 60% in Maths in the final year.

OR

  • State board exams (excluding Punjab State Education Board (PSEB) and Haryana State Education Board (HSEB)): Higher Secondary Certificate/Intermediate Certificate completed with minimum grade average of 60% average across the 4 best academic subjects (excluding local language and other non-academic subjects) in the final year + a minimum of 60% in Maths in the final year.

OR

  • State board exams from Punjab State Education Board (PSEB) and Haryana State Education Board (HSEB): Higher Secondary Certificate/Intermediate Certificate completed with minimum grade average of 65% average across the 4 best academic subjects (excluding local language and other non-academic subjects) in the final year + a minimum of 65% in Maths in the final year.

OR

  • Diploma qualifications: Post-Year 10 Engineering Diploma in a relevant stream with at least a 60% average overall (or first division results) + at least a 60% average in all Maths units studied during the Diploma.

Sekolah Menengah Atas (SMA) or Surat Keterangan Hasil Ujian Nasional (SKHUN or previously STK) – Minimum grade average of 6.5 out of 10

High School Diploma or Pre-University Certificate with a minimum GPA of 12 out of 20 and a minimum score of 12 in Mathematics.

Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) with six O-level passes or two passes in the GCE A-levels + Satisfactory completion of one year postsecondary study at a recognised tertiary institute.

Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) Grade average of 2.0 (C) or better in General Studies and in 3 other subjects

Higher School Certificate (HSC) and General Certificate of Education (GCE) – Completed with an overall result of at least 7, with a C or above in Maths. Marks are calculated as a total of 3 Advanced Level subjects where A*/A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2 and E=1. Advanced Subsidiary subjects may be considered.

Preparatorio / Titulo Academico de Bachiller / Diploma de Bachiller with a 6.0 grade score.
