Students who have completed secondary school more than two years ago and have not undertaken any further study with a vocational education and training (VET) provider or a higher education institution since then may be eligible to study a professional certificate of competency, diploma, advanced diploma, graduate certificate or bachelor’s degree.

There are no official entry requirements into our short courses. However, they have been created to give you professional development in specific areas, which can be immediately implemented in the workplace. If you have been working in a relevant industry and are looking to upskill or cross-skill, these courses may be right for you. For more information about a specific professional certificate, please visit the relevant course page.

Our diplomas are accelerated practical, work-oriented programs. They are designed for people who have some work experience in the relevant field, or a relatable trade qualification. Therefore, you may be eligible to study one of our diplomas if you have an appropriate level of industry experience. For more information about a specific diploma, please visit the relevant course page.

Our advanced diplomas are designed to help trade qualified professionals take the next step in their career or to formalize the experience of those with extensive work experience. This means you are required to have either a trade certificate (Certificate 3) or equivalent, or at least three years of work experience within a relevant job and industry to gain entrance. Therefore, you may be eligible to study one of our advanced diplomas if you have an appropriate level of industry experience. For more information about a specific advanced diploma, please visit the relevant course page.

Our graduate certificates are advanced programs developed by industry specialists. These courses have been designed with an emphasis on vocational application and aim to impart practical skills that can be applied in the workplace. Since these courses are presented at a higher level than advanced diplomas and bachelor’s degrees, you will need to have already attained an undergraduate degree or be able to demonstrate significant industry experience combined with continuing professional development. It is important to note the challenging nature of these programs. If you have extensive work experience in a relevant field, you may be eligible to study one of our graduate certificates. For more information about a specific graduate certificate, please visit the relevant course page.

You may be eligible to apply to study an Undergraduate certificate or Bachelor of Science degree if you completed a Year 12 Australian Senior Certificate of Education (or equivalent for students with qualifications from countries other than Australia) more than 2 years ago and can show relevant work experience in the field of study you are applying for.

You will also need to have satisfactory English language proficiency at an English pass level in an Australian Senior Certificate of Education (or equivalent for students with qualifications from countries other than Australia) or a specified level of achievement in a recognized English language test such as IELTS at a score of at least 6.0 (with no individual band score less than 5.5); or equivalent, as outlined in the EIT Admissions Policy.
