This applies to students whose highest level of study since leaving secondary school is a vocational education and training (VET) course. This includes study at a public TAFE or with another VET provider. Applicants with a VET qualification may have completed other studies, such as a Year 10 or Year 12 secondary school certificate.

Online Study

Students whose highest level of study since leaving secondary school is a vocational education and training (VET) course may be eligible to study a professional certificate of competency, diploma, advanced diploma, undergraduate certificate or bachelor’s degree.

There are no official entry requirements into our short courses. However, they have been created to give you professional development in specific areas, which can be immediately implemented in the workplace. If you have been working in a relevant industry, or have a relevant trade qualification or higher, and are looking to upskill or cross-skill, these courses may be right for you. Our diplomas are accelerated practical, work-oriented programs. They are designed for people who have some work experience in the relevant field, or a relatable trade qualification. Therefore, you may be eligible to study one of our diplomas if you have an appropriate level of industry experience, or an appropriate trade qualification or higher. Our advanced diplomas are designed to help trade qualified professionals take the next step in their career or to formalize the experience of those with extensive work experience. This means you are required to have either a trade certificate (Certificate 3) or equivalent, or at least three years of work experience within a relevant job and industry to gain entrance. You may also have a higher level of qualification in a corresponding field and be looking to gain further practical knowledge. Therefore, you may be eligible to study one of our advanced diplomas if you have an appropriate level of industry experience, or a relevant trade qualification or higher. You may be eligible to apply to study an Undergraduate Certificate or Bachelor of Science degree if you have completed one of the following:

  1. A relevant (to the sub-discipline) Australian (AQF) engineering diploma, advanced diploma, associate degree (or higher), with successful completions of all Maths units/modules.
  2. An overseas qualification equivalent to the above (EIT assesses overseas qualifications using Australian Government guidelines to determine their comparability to qualifications)

You will also need to have satisfactory English language proficiency at an English pass level in an Australian Senior Certificate of Education (or equivalent for students with qualifications from countries other than Australia) or a specified level of achievement in a recognized English language test such as IELTS at a score of at least 6.0 (with no individual band score less than 5.5); or equivalent, as outlined in the EIT Admissions Policy.

On Campus Study

Students whose highest level of study since leaving secondary school is a vocational education and training (VET) course may be eligible to study one of our bachelor’s degrees on-campus in Australia.

Bachelor of Science Degrees

You may be eligible to study a Bachelor of Science degree if you have completed your country’s equivalent of an Australian (AQF) engineering diploma, advanced diploma, associate degree (or higher), with successful completion of all Maths units/modules. EIT assesses overseas qualifications using Australian Government guidelines to determine their comparability to qualifications.

You will also need to demonstrate a specified level of achievement in a recognized English language test such as IELTS, at a score of at least 6.0 (with no individual band score less than 5.5), or equivalent, as outlined in the EIT Admissions Policy.

Bachelor of Science Degrees

You may be eligible to study a Bachelor of Science degree if you have a relevant (to the sub-discipline) Australian (AQF) engineering diploma, advanced diploma, associate degree (or higher) with successful completion of all Mathematics units or modules.

You will also need to have satisfactory English language proficiency, at an English pass level in an Australian Senior Certificate of Education, or a specified level of achievement in a recognized English language test such as IELTS, at a score of at least 6.0 (with no individual band score less than 5.5), or equivalent, as outlined in the EIT Admissions Policy.
