This event promises an enriching experience for all those passionate about engineering and technology. With over 3300+ unique registrants already, the countdown to this virtual event has begun!

The Inside Scoop

The Virtual Open Week is set to begin on October 23rd, 2023, and will be a four-day celebration of engineering expertise, featuring a lineup of 18 confirmed presenters across 12 different sessions, ending on October 26th, 2023.

The Virtual Open Week will be held live and online (the sessions will also be recorded if you cannot attend live).

This virtual event is your opportunity to learn more about us, what we do, and why we do it.

Participants will also have the opportunity to delve into an array of engineering disciplines, from electrical, civil and mechanical engineering to renewable energy and industrial automation. Whether you’re a budding engineer or a seasoned professional, there’s something for everyone.

What to Expect at EIT’s Open Week

Monday, October 23rd 2023

Kickstarting the week on a high note, our first session delves into the captivating world of engineering and unveils why EIT is the ultimate destination for engineering education.

Join us from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm UTC+8 to hear from the EIT Dean, Dr. Steve Mackay, and the Deputy Dean, Indumathi V. They’ll share their insights on why engineering is an exceptional career choice, highlighting its potential and impact.

Plus, you’ll discover what sets EIT apart as a leading institution for engineering studies.

From 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm UTC+8 discover the dynamic realm of Civil and Structural Engineering through insights from our esteemed lecturers, including Dr. Ana Evangelista, Dr. Shasha Wang, and Dr. Igor Shufrin.

Join us as they shed light on the courses available in this field and the practical aspects, such as hands-on workshops, remote laboratories, and cutting-edge simulation software that enrich the learning experience.

Tuesday, October 24th 2023

On Tuesday, from 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm UTC+8, we’ll explore the vital skill of effective communication for engineers. Presented by Edwina Ross, Academic Public Affairs Manager, this session will equip you with the communication skills necessary to excel in your engineering career.

Learn how to convey complex technical ideas clearly, work efficiently in teams, and maximize your effectiveness in the workplace.

EIT is also offering an informative session where we offer a comprehensive introduction to our Professional Certificate of Competency courses and a brief glimpse into our corporate group training options.

Presented by Isabel Sibanda, Lead Learning Support Officer, and Cameron Gill, Group Training Coordinator, this session will take place from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm UTC+8.

The last presentation on Tuesday will be presented at 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm UTC+8 by Dr. Hossein Tafti and Dr. Akhlaqur Rahman about the field of Electrical Engineering and Renewable Energy.

Wednesday, October 25th 2023

Moving on to Wednesday, from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm UTC+8, we’ll provide a comprehensive overview of our Advanced Diploma courses and other vocational programs. Presented by Paul Celenza, College Manager, this session is designed to introduce you to the wide array of vocational programs we offer.

Whether you’re looking to gain specialized skills in a particular field or further your career with an advanced diploma, this session will guide you through the options available and their potential benefits.

The last session on Wednesday will be presented at 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm UTC+8 by Dr. Akhlaqur Rahman and Dr. Hadi Harb. They will go into the fascinating world of Industrial Automation Engineering. Join us to gain a deeper understanding of the courses we offer in this field, along with hands-on workshops, remote laboratories, and advanced simulation software integrated into our curriculum.

Thursday, October 26th 2023

Beginning at 1:00 pm UTC+8, Jason Gabriel, Higher Education Manager – Learning Support, will present an overview of our Undergraduate Programs.
This session provides an excellent starting point for those considering a bachelor’s degree in engineering.

Following this, at 2:00 pm UTC+8, the focus shifts to Postgraduate Programs (excluding the Doctor of Engineering). Jason Gabriel will provide valuable insights into the array of postgraduate options available at EIT, such as our Graduate Certificates, Graduate Diplomas and Master’s degrees helping you make informed decisions about your academic journey.

At 3:00 pm UTC+8, the spotlight turns to the prestigious Doctor of Engineering program. Dr. Vishal Sharma and Indumathi V. will provide a detailed overview of this program, which is available both online and on-campus.

Chris Fordyce, Global Student Recruitment Leader, will be expanding on on-campus study options in Australia at 4:00 pm – 4:30 pm UTC+8. In this session, we will provide a general overview of our on-campus programs, campuses in Australia, and other important information for those looking to study abroad or domestically in Australia.

The last session on Thursday will be from Dr. Milind Siddhpura, Dr. Arti Siddhpura and Dr. Aravin Arumugam at 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm UTC+8. This group of experts will explore the world of Mechanical Engineering, the courses we offer in this field, and the hands-on workshops, remote laboratories, and simulation software used in these courses.
