In DC, Voltage applied and current are in phase (constant with time). Calculations are simple. In AC, the voltage applied and current flowing are changing from instant to instant. The variations of current with respect to time leads to magnetic and electrostatic effects. AC are classified by their characteristics ( Resistive, inductive or capacitive)
