Engineering Tech Talk is an industry-led seminar series delivered by local engineering professionals, showcasing real-world knowledge and experience from professionals working within the region.
The series is designed to support local engineering communities by encouraging knowledge sharing and connection between professionals, students, and industry stakeholders. With hundreds of EIT students studying while working across the region’s engineering and industrial sectors, the series reflects EIT’s long-standing commitment to developing and celebrating industry-ready engineering professionals.
Following the success of the first session, this second installment in the Engineering Tech Talk series will continue the conversation around practical approaches to improving maintenance performance and asset reliability in industrial environments.

Seminar Details
This practical and insightful session will equip attendees with strategies to optimize maintenance operations through the effective integration of Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM). Participants can expect to gain a clearer understanding of how data-driven decision-making, condition monitoring, and Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems contribute to reducing downtime, lowering operational costs, improving asset reliability, and maximizing overall plant and equipment performance. The webinar will provide actionable insights and real-world approaches to building smarter, more efficient maintenance practices.
About the Presenter:

Darwin Borja – Technical Director and Senior Systems Integrator
With over 18 years of experience delivering automation, control, and industrial systems across water, manufacturing, and infrastructure sectors. Darwin specialises in PLC/SCADA systems, instrumentation, telemetry, and end-to-end project delivery, from concept and design through to commissioning and handover.
Darwin has led multidisciplinary teams on complex automation projects, providing technical leadership, system architecture, and hands-on integration while ensuring quality, safety, and operational reliability. Known for his structured approach and clear communication, he bridges engineering, operations, and stakeholders to deliver practical, scalable solutions. His experience spans both consulting and owner-side roles, supporting organisations with system optimisation, digitalisation, and continuous improvement.
