Emeritus Professor Akhtar Kalam’s Electrifying Mysteries
This webinar series provides a structured examination of real-world engineering challenges. Each session will address specific, technically focused topics relevant to professional engineers.
Webinar details
A streetlight repeatedly activated during the brightest part of the day despite functioning photocell controls. Multiple component replacements failed to resolve the issue. This case reveals how environmental conditions, sensor placement, and electrical anomalies can create unexpected operational behavior.
- The webinar will be recorded and will be sent out to registered attendees afterwards.
- A certificate of attendance will be provided to attendees who request one near the end of the live webinar session.
- Please note: the time stated on this event is in UTC. You will need to convert this to your own time zone.
Key takeaways from this webinar
- Explain the operating principles of photocells and lighting control systems.
- Identify environmental factors that influence sensor performance.
- Investigate intermittent control-system anomalies systematically.
- Recognize the role of installation design in reliable operation.
- Apply root-cause analysis techniques to recurring field faults.
- Develop practical solutions for improving outdoor lighting reliability.
