In case you missed it, this year’s EIT Doctor of Engineering (DEng) Conference showcased more research topics presented by principal supervisors who are also international research leaders.

On 2 November 2022, the Engineering Institute of Technology (EIT) held its second Doctor of Engineering Conference. This year, a step up from the first conference, saw a more robust itinerary with an increase in the number of keynote speakers.
The majority of academics who presented were not only principal DEng supervisors but also happened to be international research leaders – adding even greater value to the event. In addition, this year’s conference had more research topics presented by EIT students.
The impressive list of notable presenters included, among others, Professor Vivian W. Y. Tam, a world-renowned researcher in the field of construction engineering and management, Professor Ahmed Abu-Sida, head of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Discipline at Curtin University, as well as EIT on-campus civil engineering lecturer, Dr. Shasha Wang.
The EIT Doctor of Engineering is a professional doctor of engineering doctorate suited to solving industry problems. It is created to develop specialized skills for practical application in the engineering workforce. The outcomes of the study and investigation have direct and immediate benefits to the industry. It prepares individuals for professional engineering, with an emphasis on engineering practice, high technical competence, and innovation preparing graduates for technical leadership roles in the engineering industry.
Graduates of the Doctor of Engineering will be able to make original and significant contributions to the development, application, and evaluation of professional knowledge by engaging with practical problems of demonstrated importance to their employment context and the broader body of engineering and technical expertise. The students who presented at this year’s DEng Conference demonstrated the benefits of this.
