Design & Prototyping – Think It. Design It. Make It.
This immersive one-day bootcamp is designed for Year 9-10 students who are curious about engineering, design, innovation, and problem-solving. Participants will tackle a real-world design challenge and learn how engineers transform ideas into practical solutions using design thinking, computer-aided design (CAD), and rapid prototyping techniques.
Working in small teams, students will brainstorm ideas, sketch concepts, develop digital models, and prepare their designs for 3D printing. The day concludes with a team showcase, where participants will present their solutions and explain the design decisions behind their prototypes.
Whether students are already interested in engineering or simply enjoy creating and solving problems, this bootcamp offers an engaging introduction to the engineering design process in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Note for returning students: If you’ve attended the Design & Prototyping bootcamp before, keep an eye out – new workshops and advanced challenges are coming soon in 2027.

- Inclusions: All learning materials, welcome pack, certificate of participation.
- Afternoon Tea: Provided by EIT (please inform us of any allergies)
- Lunch: Students must bring their own lunch and water bottle.
- Tickets: $119 AUD inclusive of GST per student
What to Expect
Students work in teams to solve a real-world design challenge, applying design thinking and engineering principles to take an idea from concept to digital prototype. Throughout the day, they’ll brainstorm, sketch, and model designs in professional CAD software, preparing them for 3D printing and presentation. The bootcamp concludes with a showcase judged by experts, and the winning design will be announced.

- All facilitators hold current Working With Children checks.
- A structured sign-in and sign-out process will be in place.

Photography and videography may take place during the event for promotional purposes. Parents and guardians will be advised of consent options during registration.
Refund Policy:
Cancellations must be received via email to pippa.dold@eit.edu.au. Cancellations made at least three (3) days prior to the event will receive a full refund. Refund requests received within three (3) days of the event may not be eligible for a refund.
