Introduction

In our first section of our Virtual Open Day, Dr. Steve Mackay (EIT Founder and Dean of Engineering) introduced EIT and discussed some highlights of EIT and sister company IDC Technologies’ 30+ year history of training engineers around the world. Lastly, he outlined why studying engineering is an excellent career/life choice and a rewarding experience.

In this section of our Virtual Open Day, Indumathi V. (EIT’s Deputy Dean) discusses why lifelong learning is so important, particularly to engineers. She highlights that no matter what stage you are at in your career, EIT can assist you with further learning and professional development. Lastly, she points out what makes us stand apart from other providers and our dedication to the world of engineering.

A Lecturer’s Insight

In this section of our Virtual Open Day, Dr. Milind Siddhpura gave an insight into a range of fields of engineering that we deliver courses in. Specifically, he discussed what is defined by each field, potential job areas, trending topics and content examples from each of these areas:
– Mechanical Engineering
– Civil and Structural Engineering
– Electrical Engineering
– Industrial Automation Engineering
– Safety, Risk and Reliability Engineering
– Civil: Railway Infrastructure

In this section of our Virtual Open Day, Dr. Milind Siddhpura gave an insight into our remote and virtual labs that are used in a variety of EIT’s online courses to facilitate practical engineering learning.

Short Courses & Vocational Programs (incl. Advanced Diplomas)

In this section of our Virtual Open Day, Paul Celenza (EIT College Manager) discussed an overview of the aspects of our short courses (Professional Certificate of Competency programs) such as structure, delivery and student support. This short overview would be beneficial for anyone who is thinking of studying one of our Professional Certificate of Competency courses so they know what to expect.

In this section of our Virtual Open Day, Cameron Gill (EIT Group Training Coordinator) gives a short overview of the tailored professional engineering training courses we can provide for you and your colleagues.

Higher Education (Online and On-Campus)

In this section of our Virtual Open Day, Natalie Deng (EIT Higher Education Manager – Strategy & Governance) presented an overview of our online Higher Education programs such as our Undergraduate Certificates, Bachelor’s degrees, Graduate Certificates, Graduate Diplomas, Master’s degrees and our Doctor of Engineering.

In this section of our Virtual Open Day, Jason Gabriel (EIT Higher Education Manager – Learning Support) discussed the various learning support and systems you’ll have access to as an online Higher Education student at EIT. He also highlights the payment methods available for your tuition fees.

In this section of our Virtual Open Day, we heard from Hermanus Scholtz – a Senior Automation Technician working full time – who shared his experience as a continuing online EIT student and how his studies have helped him in his career.

Hermanus has completed his 52886WA Advanced Diploma of Industrial Automation Engineering, is currently finishing his Bachelor of Science (Industrial Automation Engineering) and is enrolled to start his Master of Engineering (Industrial Automation) next year in 2023.

In this section of our Virtual Open Day, Chris Fordyce (EIT Global Student Recruitment Leader) discussed our on-campus programs, Australian campuses (Perth and Melbourne) and some of the many aspects that are unique to studying with us here in Australia.
