On December 4, the Albany STEM Regional Festival came alive at the Retravision Stadium Sporting Precinct in Albany, Western Australia.
Families, students, and educators gathered for an afternoon of hands-on STEM activities discovering how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics shape the world around us.
Mechanical Engineering lecturers Dr. Milind Siddhpura and Dr. Arti Siddhpura represented EIT in one of the festival stalls; they engaged with the visitors, answering questions, and sharing insights into STEM pathways and careers.

Reflecting on the experience, Dr. Arti Siddhpura said, “Dr. Milind and I had a fantastic time representing EIT at the event, where we engaged with high school students, teachers, and parents across both days. The students especially enjoyed interacting with the spinning-wheel STEM quiz and exploring the RC excavator, which opened up great conversations about hydraulics, pneumatics, and real-world engineering principles. We were pleasantly surprised by the level of technical knowledge some students already had, and many expressed genuine excitement about pursuing engineering careers. Teachers and parents were also very interested in learning about EIT’s engineering pathways, including the opportunity for students to study engineering without requiring ATAR mathematics or physics.”
The festival ran from 4:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. and welcomed 375 guests including students in years 7 to 10 with their parents. Seven stalls, including EIT and six local schools, offered interactive experiences for attendees of all ages.
EIT’s involvement highlighted its commitment to STEM outreach and regional communities, giving students and families a fun, inspiring way to explore learning opportunities.
