We’re kicking off the 2026 competition with a bang – and after last year’s success, we’re bringing it back bigger than ever!
Join EIT’s global photo challenge to showcase your engineering spirit from anywhere in the world! Whether you’re trekking through Antarctica or exploring the ocean depths, we want to see your adventure in just one click. Plus, win cash prizes across eight winners, with first place receiving US$1,000, second place US$750, third place US$500, and fourth place awarding US$100 each to five winners.

Requirements & Terms and Conditions

Below are the requirements to enter the competition:

  • The photo MUST relate back to engineering, whether on or off site, at your desk or by a piece of equipment.
  • Entrants must elaborate on how their photo relates to the field of engineering in their photo caption and provide context if necessary.
  • The photo must be the entrant’s original work. AI-generated or digitally fabricated images are not permitted.
  • Entrant must appear in the photo. Photos of just equipment will not be considered.

  • Follow EIT on at least one platform. This includes, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or TikTok.
  • Use the hashtag #EITPhotoChallenge2026 for your submission to be considered.

  • High-quality photos only. (Anything from your smartphone to your fancy camera will be suffice!)
  • No blurry images will be accepted into the competition.

  • 1st place: US$1000
  • 2nd place: US$750
  • 3rd place: US$500
  • 4th place (5 winners): US$100 each

Please note: All cash prizes are paid in USD. Where a winner’s country does not use USD as its official currency, the prize amount may be converted into the winner’s local currency at the exchange rate on the date of transfer. If conversion to the local currency is not possible, the prize will be paid in USD. Any bank or conversion fees are the responsibility of the winner.

  • Eligibility
    • Entry is open to all engineering professionals around the world during the competition duration.
    • Entry to the competition is free.
  • Competition Period
    • The competition opens on 16 December 2025 and closes at 5:00pm (Australian Western Standard Time) on 31 March 2026.
    • Entries received outside these dates will not be eligible for judging.
  • How to Enter
    • Entries must be submitted by following EIT on at least one platform, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, or TikTok.
    • Use the hashtag #EITPhotoChallenge2026 to enable your submission to be considered.
  • Photograph Requirements
    • Photographs must relate to the theme of engineering, whether on or off site, at your desk, or including a piece of equipment.
    • Photographs must be the entrant’s original work.
    • Entrants who have won a prize in any previous EIT Photo Challenge are not permitted to submit the same photograph again.
    • Entrants must provide a caption explaining how their photo relates to the field of engineering and provide any necessary context.
    • The entrant must appear in the photograph. Photographs including other people must have consent from the person(s) photographed, noted at the time of entry submission.
    • Entries must not contain content which is unlawful, inappropriate, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, obscene, profane, or racially offensive. It is EIT’s absolute discretion to deem an entry unsuitable.
    • Photographs must not include digital filters or be generated using artificial intelligence.
    • Photographs must be high-resolution digital images of a minimum of 300ppi in quality. Photograph files must be in JPEG or PNG format and not exceed 5MB.
    • One entry is permitted per person. The photograph must not infringe upon any third-party rights.
    • Entrants are solely responsible for ensuring that their photographs do not violate any confidentiality, intellectual property, or workplace policies of their employer or any third party. EIT accepts no liability for any claims, damages, or disputes arising from photographs taken on company premises or containing confidential, sensitive, or proprietary information.
  • Judging
    • Entries will be judged by a panel of five people comprised of the Dean, three members of EIT staff, and one individual with expertise in photography.
    • Winners will be decided by the panel, and their decisions are final. Panellists will declare if any entrants are known to them prior to the start of judging.
  • Prizes
    • Eight (8) prizes will be awarded:
      • First Prize: US$1,000
      • Second Prize: US$750
      • Third Prize: US$500
      • Fourth Prize (5 winners): US$100 each
    • Please note:
      • All cash prizes are paid in US$. Where a winner’s country does not use US$ as its official currency, the prize amount may be converted into the winner’s local currency at the exchange rate on the date of transfer. If conversion to the local currency is not possible, the prize will be paid in US$. Any bank or conversion fees are the responsibility of the winner.
      • In the event that fewer than ten (10) valid entries are received, EIT reserves the right to reduce the prize amounts, award a single prize, or provide an ex-gratia payment to participants at its discretion.
  • Usage Rights
    • Entrants grant EIT a non-exclusive worldwide license to use their photographs for promotional purposes.
    • Photographs submitted may be used and published by EIT at its sole discretion in formats including, but not limited to, reports, websites, social media, and promotional items.
    • EIT is entitled to keep all entries and is under no obligation to return any entries to the entrants.
  • Notification
    • Winners will be notified by email by Monday, 20 April 2026.
    • Winners will also be announced publicly through EIT’s website and social media platforms.
