Biography

Dr Javad Shemshad completed his PhD in Mechanical and Mining Engineering at The University of Queensland in 2012, specialising in optical sensor design for real-time and remote gas detection. He also completed bachelor and master degrees in Electrical Engineering at University of Tabriz. Javad worked as teaching assistance at UQ from 2008-2012 and lecturer at Adana Science and Technology university from 2013-2014. Additionally, he actively participated in the Indigenous Tutorial Access Scheme program at the University of Southern Queensland striving to give back his knowledge and experience to the community.

Javad has over two decades of extensive experience in Electrical and Telecommunications engineering. His expertise is primarily focused on the design and development of electronic circuits, telecommunications systems, and electrical systems simulation and modelling. Javad is proficient in power systems analysis including power flow analysis, short circuit studies, transient stability analysis, electromagnetic transient (EMT) simulation, and harmonic analysis. Throughout his career, Javad has been an integral part of diverse teams, gaining experience in various roles across Electronics, Electrical, and Telecommunication sectors. Javad’s comprehensive skill set, and diverse project experience highlight his ability to deliver innovative and effective solutions across a range of challenging engineering endeavours.

Javad has authored numerous publications and been involved in various research projects focusing on designing innovative optical sensors for medical and environmental applications.

He has taught the following subjects: Control and Dynamic Systems, Process Control, Modern Control, Electronic Circuits, Power Electronics, Plant Control Systems, Circuits, Signals & Systems,

Fundamentals of Electromagnetic Fields & Waves, Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering,

Fundamentals of Fibre Optic Sensors, Engineering Mathematics, University Physics and Statistics.
