She holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering (Concentration: Built Environment) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ)\, where her research focused on optimising construction material selection to reduce environmental\, social\, and economic impacts through the use of Digital Twins and Blockchain. She also earned her Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering and her Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from UFRJ. Her academic experience includes research stays at Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Spain) and Western Sydney University (Australia)\, as well as teaching at Universidad de Santiago de Chile (Chile). She is also the author of a published book based on her Ph.D. research\, further consolidating her contributions to sustainable construction. \nAlongside her academic career\, Dr. Figueiredo works as a civil engineer in Brazil\, applying her expertise to real-world projects in structural design and sustainable construction. She lectures in postgraduate programs at UFRJ\, where she coordinates a unit on Building Information Modelling (BIM)\, and serves as a contracted lecturer at the Engineering Institute of Technology (EIT)\, Australia\, teaching both Higher Education and VET courses. Her expertise spans BIM\, Digital Twins\, and Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA)\, with a strong commitment to advancing sustainable practices in engineering and construction.

Numerous industries including engineering\, architecture\, product design\, and manufacturing heavily rely on CAD. The use of CAD reduces design time and errors\, enhances documentation quality\, allows for easy modifications\, and facilitates digital manufacturing. \nComputer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) involves the use of software and computer-controlled machinery to automate the manufacturing process. CAM works hand-in-hand with CAD systems: once a design is created in CAD\, CAM software generates the toolpaths and instructions needed to produce the physical part using machines such as CNC (Computer Numerical Control) routers\, mills\, lathes\, or 3D printers. \nCAD/CAM has been utilized in engineering practice in various ways\, including drafting\, design\, simulation\, analysis\, and manufacturing. These systems are commonly used in daily engineering tasks. Engineering companies both large and small acquire CAD/CAM systems and train their engineers accordingly. She was also a finalist for the WA Trainer of the Year. \nIndumathi holds a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Western Australia\, a Graduate Diploma of Adult and Vocational Education from Charles Sturt University\, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Canberra. \nAs a Fellow of Engineers Australia and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management\, Indumathi is a highly respected advocate for women and girls in STEM programs. She actively volunteers as a mentor\, and her passion for education has led her to pursue a Ph.D. research project focused on empowering students and lecturers through data analytics via electroencephalography (EEG) sensors. \n \nEmma Hart\, EIT’s Higher Education Manager \nEmma has a Bachelor’s and a Masters’s degree in Modern Languages and Linguistics as well as a Graduate Diploma of Education and a Cert IV in TAE. Most of these solar generation systems are connected to the low voltage distribution networks\, causing significant reverse power flow during high solar generation period. Compounding this situation is the steady increase in peak electricity demand caused by electrification of domestic gas appliances and uptake in electric vehicle charging. While some countries\, particularly within the EU\, possess well-developed gas distribution infrastructure\, the distribution of green hydrogen still presents significant challenges. Its adoption is further hindered by economic models that currently make it more expensive than natural gas. \nAs a fuel\, green hydrogen’s combustion characteristics present additional difficulties for the designers of gas turbines and piston engines. Consequently\, a phased approach is often adopted\, initially blending small percentages of hydrogen with natural or petroleum-based gases. Some manufacturers anticipate that internal combustion engines capable of running on 100% hydrogen will take years to fully develop\, and are therefore producing upgradeable engine units in the interim. \nSafety is another key concern. Public perception often equates hydrogen with high risk\, viewing it as potentially explosive. After completing his studies\, he worked at Volkswagen as engineering planner until he was offered a full-time post as a lecturer at the now\, Nelson Mandela University. After adding Mechanical Engineering to his name\, it did not take him long to initiate one of the first renewable energy research programs in South Africa to which he added several firsts resulting in him being awarded both the De Beers and Oppenheimer Awards for research\, enabling him to read for his PhD at the University of Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom. During this time\, he published prolifically and was invited to speak at conferences across the globe. His research career ended on a high note with him being awarded the largest grant in academic history to initiate a large-scale wind demonstration project. This project resulted in the first commercial wind farm in South Africa earning him the accolade as the initiator of the South African wind energy industry. \nHe left the academic environment to start his own energy consultancy. However\, he never left the academic environment behind because since then he supervised post graduate students at the Da Vinci Institute\, moderating examinations at the Tswane University of Technology\, while acting as a visiting academic at the Texas Southern University. At the time the educational system was being restructured in South Africa and even here he left his footprint as a consultant to several SETAs\, the Engineering Council and the South African Qualification Authority whom he assisted with Unit Standard and Course Development.

He has years of diverse hands-on structural design and project management experience\, having worked in various roles\, including project manager for UNWFP (United Nations World Food Program) road project\, which was funded by European Union in South Sudan. Currently He is a professional civil engineer at a company called NEB (National Engineering Bureau www.neb.ae) in Dubai\, United Arab Emirates; NEB is the number one architectural firm in Middle East and No. 40 in the world. The World Architecture 100 ranking is released every year by Building Design UK and NEB has been steadily moving-up in list for 10 consecutive years. \nDr. Abate is proficient in utilizing industry-leading software tools such as ETABS\, SAP2000\, MS-Project\, Eagle Point\, AutoCAD Civil 3D\, ArchiCAD\, WaterCAD\, Epanet\, Inroads\, Microsoft Office\, Primavera\, SAFE\, PROKON\, GEO5\, ELPLA\, RSTAB\, ADAPT-PT\, REWARD\, and ADAPT Builder\, among others\, for structural analysis and design. Specialized in PT (Post-Tensioned) design and implementation\, with extensive training in prestressed concrete design from PTI. Skilled in conducting research in performance-based design\, with a focus on seismic performance evaluation of high-rise structures. He went on to complete his PhD in electrical engineering at Nanyang Technological University Singapore in 2018. From January 2018 to April 2020\, he served as a Research Fellow at Nanyang Technological University\, focusing on the control of photovoltaic systems for grid support. Following that\, from May 2020 to May 2021\, Dr. Tafti held the position of senior research associate at the University of New South Wales\, Sydney\, Australia. During this time\, he concentrated on the modelling and testing of commercial photovoltaic inverters. Currently\, he serves as a senior lecturer at the Engineering Institute of Technology (EIT) and concurrently holds a research fellow position at the Department of Electrical\, Electronic\, and Computer Engineering\, University of Western Australia\, Perth\, WA. His research interests encompass the grid integration of renewable energy sources\, specifically photovoltaics and energy storage\, as well as the design and control of multilevel power converters.
