Known for her integrity\, Christabel possesses advanced expertise in technical training and design\, staying updated on industry trends and technological advancements.\nBefore moving to South Africa in 2007\, she worked for three years as a mechanical engineering technician in Zambia’s copper mines. She then spent over a decade lecturing in design and draughting\, training students in multi-disciplinary drawing office practices\, including building design\, structural steel detailing\, electrical and mechanical draughting\, using software such as Revit\, AutoCAD\, SolidWorks\, and Inventor. \nFrom 2012 to 2013\, she worked as a fire sprinkler designer at Crossfire Management\, designing fire protection systems\, selling projects\, and surpassing sales targets. From 2014 to 2023\, she lectured at African Premier of Draughting\, teaching multi-disciplinary drawing office practices using various design software. In October 2023\, she joined EIT as a mechanical engineering instructor\, delivering tutorials across all mechanical engineering units. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Engineering\, investigating the effect of welding reclamation on the mechanical properties of thick 3CR12 stainless steel. \n \nKerry Marques\, General Manager (South Africa) \nKerry holds a record of over 9 years of experience in the Private Education sector\, where she has excelled in various roles encompassing diverse aspects of business operations. Starting her journey as a librarian\, she gradually progressed to the position of academic coordinator\, developing a strong affinity for the academic environment\, and finding purpose in this realm. Prior to joining Bio Dynamics\, he gained valuable experience as a mechanic’s apprentice. Kevin has completed specialized numeric training with Philips Healthcare in patient monitoring and with Pentax Medical\, becoming the only certified Pentax endoscope technician in Namibia. Additionally\, he has received training in Arjo and Erbe\, and holds a certificate in hazardous materials (hazmat) handling. In recognition of outstanding performance\, Kevin was honored with the Employee of the Year award in 2022. He is also pursuing the 52885WA Advanced Diploma of Biomedical Engineering with EIT\, which began in 2023\, further strengthening expertise in the field. \n \nJohannes-Sion Petrus  \nJohannes-Sion is a highly skilled Senior Maintenance Technician with over 8 years of experience in Utility Maintenance and Operations within the brewery industry. Holding an Ammonia Technical Diploma\, N3 Trade Certificate in Fitting and Turning\, and the 52884WA Advanced Diploma of Mechanical Engineering Technology from EIT\, he specializes in equipment maintenance\, troubleshooting\, and optimization. With a deep understanding of mechanical systems and utility operations\, Johannes-Sion is committed to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of industrial systems. \n \nKalpesh Desai \nKalpesh Desai is an experienced Electrical & Instrumentation Project Engineer specializing in automation\, electrical systems\, and project execution. At Langer Heinrich Uranium\, he oversees E&I design\, compliance\, and optimization of control systems like PLCs\, SCADA\, and DCS\, along with supervising installations and maintenance. \nPreviously\, he spent 13 years at Ohorongo Cement\, managing PCS7 SCADA systems\, VSDs\, and major plant upgrades\, including a 5 MW PV plant. His career began with Siemens India and Altop Industries Ltd\, focusing on instrumentation and DCS for cement and petrochemical plants. DESCRIPTION:The Engineering Institute of Technology (EIT) is hosting another seminar at their office in Midrand!\nChristabel Phiri\, EIT Lecturer\, will present an interactive session on the engineering landscape in Southern Africa\, the lack of engineers in the region and how to remain relevant in industry by upskilling yourself.
