SUMMARY:Loop Tuning with Process Control
DESCRIPTION:The live presentation of this event has already taken place. \nPlease view the PDF slides here or watch the video recording below:\n \nWebinar details\nA quick tour of the basics of Process Control and tuning a loop will be given in this presentation\, delivered by EIT’s Dean of Engineering\, Dr. Steve Mackay. After a quick overview of the essentials of process control\, the simple rules and mechanics of tuning Process Control loops will be explained. \nThese tuning rules will then be extended to the more complex cascade loops. The session will be completed by examining one of the more intractable problems of process control – tuning loops with significant dead time. \nIt will all be presented with a minimum of mathematics and a focus on understanding somewhat complex concepts. You will walk away with tools to improve your industrial plant’s performance. \n\nThe webinar will be recorded and will be sent out to registered attendees afterwards.\nA certificate of attendance will be provided to attendees who request one near the end of the live webinar session.\nPlease note: the time stated on this event is in UTC. You will need to convert this to your own time zone.\n\nKey takeaways from this webinar\n\nEssentials of process control\nRules and mechanics of process control loops\nComplex cascade loops\n\nRelated courses\nThis webinar/topic relates to our school of Industrial Automation\, Instrumentation and Process Control\, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. \nTo learn more about tuition fees\, please click here. \nAbout the presenter\n \nDr. Steve Mackay\, EIT’s Dean of Engineering \n\nFounder of EIT\nHis leadership has inspired EIT’s unique and distinctive approach to engineering education.\n\nDr. Mackay has enjoyed a varied career in engineering\, having worked in automation\, data acquisition\, instrumentation\, data communications\, and process control throughout Australia\, Europe\, Africa\, and North America over the past 35 years. He has successfully pioneered the application of new technologies in Australia and overseas\, installing industrial data communication systems and implementing live online education\, (including remote laboratories)\, for engineering students worldwide. \nDr. Mackay has been involved in a range of industries\, including power stations\, mining\, mineral processing\, oil/gas/petrochemical plants\, and platforms. He has presented courses on industrial data communications\, data acquisition\, instrumentation\, and process control to over 30\,000 engineers and technicians worldwide for clients such as NASA\, Rolls Royce\, and BP. He has also co-authored and edited 25 engineering books that have been published across the world. Dr. Mackay is a Fellow of Engineers Australia with a license to practice as a Chemical\, Mechanical\, and Electrical Chartered Professional Engineer. \nAs Dean of the Engineering Institute of Technology\, Dr. Mackay leads the institute in providing micro-credentials and engineering qualifications to over 1500 students per year from 140 countries. He has an unswerving focus on student outcomes and on excellence in education.
