Please register to join the waitlist.\nJoin us for an immersive two-day Design Engineering and Rapid Prototyping Bootcamp at EIT\, tailored for Year 9-10 students eager to explore the world of design and innovation. This hands-on experience will introduce participants to the fundamentals of design engineering and 3D printing\, guiding them through the process from initial concept to final prototype. \nBy the end of the bootcamp\, students will have developed practical skills in CAD modeling and rapid prototyping\, equipping them with the tools to bring their ideas to life. \n\nDate: 24 – 25 September 2024\nVenue: 6 & 8 Thelma Street\, West Perth\, Western Australia\nFee: $98 (inclusive of GST) for both days. Register now to secure your spot! \nBootcamp Schedule:\nDay 1:\n9:00 AM – 9:30 AM: Registration and Welcome \n\nRegistration\nWelcome Address\n\n9:30 AM – 10:00 AM: Introduction to Design Engineering \nPresentation: \n\nOverview of the design engineering process.\nImportance of brainstorming\, understanding client requirements\, and considering constraints.\nIntroduction to the day’s project (e.g.\, keychain\, phone stand\, bag tag).\n\n\n10:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Brainstorming and Project Planning \nBrainstorming Session: \n\nDiscuss the selected project and gather ideas.\nDefine client requirements and constraints.\n\nHand Sketching: \n\nStudents sketch their initial designs on paper.\nInstructors provide feedback and guidance.\n\n\n11:00 AM – 11:30 AM: Break \n11:30 AM – 1:00 PM: Introduction to Autodesk Inventor \nCAD Tutorial: \n\nOverview of Autodesk Inventor interface and basic tools.\nStep-by-step demonstration to create a simple example design.\nExplain key concepts like parametric modelling and constraints\n\n\n1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Lunch Break \n2:00 PM – 3:30 PM: Hands-On CAD Modelling \nDesign Time: \n\nStudents create their designs using Autodesk Inventor.\nInstructors and assistants provide support and answer questions.\nEncourage students to iterate on their designs and troubleshoot issues.\nStudents to complete the final CAD model\n\n\nDay 2\n9:00 AM – 9:30 AM: Registration and Welcome \n\nRegistration: Check-in students and provide any new materials needed for the day.\nWelcome Address: Brief introduction to the day’s agenda and safety instructions.\n\n9:30 AM – 10:00 AM: Introduction to Rapid Prototyping and 3D Printing \nPresentation: \n\nBasics of rapid prototyping and its applications in various industries.\nOverview of additive manufacturing and how 3D printing works.\n\n\n10:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Preparing Designs for 3D Printing \nSlicing Tutorial: \n\nIntroduction to slicing software (e.g.\, Creality) and preparing a 3D model for printing.\nDemonstrate setting print parameters and exporting files for the 3D printer.\nExplain the importance of supports\, infill\, and print orientation.\nStudents to slice their models\n\n\n11:00 AM – 11:30 AM: Break \n11:30 AM – 12:00 PM: 3D Printer Demonstration Session \n\nDemonstration of a basic 3D printer and its components.\n3D printer troubleshooting (balancing\, inserting PLA\, clogged nozzle etc.)\n\n12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: 3D Printing Session \n3D Printing: \n\nStudents to start 3D printing their designs (required file format\, printer set up etc.)\nRotate groups to observe the printing process while others participate in interactive activities.\n\n\n1:00 PM – 2:00 PM: Lunch Break \n2:00 PM – 3:00 PM: Interactive Session\, Feedback and Wrap-Up \nInteractive Session: \n\nTour of the engineering facilities.\nQ&A session with academics.
