The Engineering Institute of Technology (EIT) has been announced as the winner of the International Education and Training Export Award at the 2021 Western Australian Export Awards held at Government House on the 6th of October 2021.
The Governor of Western Australia, the Honourable Kim Beazley AC, joined the Honourable Bill Johnston MLA in presenting awards to thirteen category winners across a variety of industries.
“From minerals and energy-related services to small businesses and emerging exporters, the Western Australian Export Awards reflect the business diversity and growth our State has achieved as a global trading partner,” said Mines and Petroleum Minister, the Honourable Bill Johnston MLA.
The Governor and Ms Annus welcomed winners, recipients and guests to Government House, acknowledging the critical role that WA industries play in generating the state’s economic growth and development.
“You are all extraordinary examples of Western Australia’s determination to succeed,” said the Honourable Kim Beazley AC. “It is such a pleasure to celebrate and recognise excellence across our exporting businesses.”
Despite the disruptions caused by COVID-19, EIT has expanded its course offerings, reached more students globally and redeployed staff. “We decided to think creatively, work harder and forge ahead,” says Dr Steve Mackay, EIT’s Dean of Engineering.
“We remain agile, driven and passionate,” says Dr Mackay. “This enables us to embrace new opportunities and look to the future.”
Awards are coordinated by Invest and Trade Western Australia, part of the WA Government’s Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation, in partnership with the Export Council of Australia.
The winners in each category will represent the State at Austrade’s Australian Export Awards, which will be held on November 25, 2021.
