Program Details

This program is tailored for those seeking a deeper understanding of IoT project options, going beyond the scope of short professional development courses. It is also ideal for employers in search of professionals with advanced engineering knowledge in the IoT field. Engineers will explore extensive choices and justifications involving platforms, hardware, networks, digital languages, cloud services, and embedded systems, all of which are thoroughly covered in this program.

As an advanced “Foundations” program, it complements the Graduate Certificate in Internet of Things (IoT) Security, Deployment, and Management, serving as a valuable preparatory step. Applicants typically possess a bachelor’s degree in related engineering fields and aim to bolster their expertise with a specialized credential that offers academic rigor, enhancing their competitiveness in the job market.

Graduates who emerge from the program will be able to demonstrate specialized and integrated technical and theoretical knowledge required to develop viable connected products for the IoT market.

Specifically, graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Internet of Things (IoT) will be able to:

  •  Recognize and interpret key IoT software development platforms and processes required in IoT development
  • Identify and explain the fundamental concepts and characteristics of network engineering optimization for IoT projects
  • Determine appropriate web languages that can be applied to both the client and server side of IoT applications
  • Apply the principles and knowledge required when applying web services and their web APIs to the planning, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of IoT projects
  • Apply a broad knowledge of fundamental aspects of embedded systems, specifically related to remote agents and smart devices, required for effective IoT service delivery
  • Develop a broad knowledge of tools and techniques that can be applied to select, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain IoT products
  • Assist with formulating effective holistic strategies in relation to IoT business cases
  • Recognize and enhance the deployment of hydrogen as applied to selected current and future technologies and applications
  • Assist with formulating effective holistic strategies in relation to hydrogen energy business cases
  • Manage self-autonomy to achieve objectives within organizations that have outputs based on technological application and develop professional practice in the field
  • Communicate professionally and effectively

On successful completion, the program students will graduate with the Graduate Certificate in the Internet of Things (IoT) for Engineering.

This is an advanced program designed for individuals who may already have a relevant undergraduate qualification or higher.
