Overview

As this course is conducted on a global scale, it’s focus is not on one single standard. Instead, it aims to provide an overview of key international standards. These standards apply to all customer and utility high voltage installations and compliance is mandatory. The course will begin by discussing the need for electrical standards and guidelines as well as the role of regulating bodies. It will then discuss important safety measures, power system planning and earthing system design and lightning protection. The course will then examine important protection techniques, overhead system and line design as well as underground cable design and sizing. The increasing awareness of environmental considerations in HV design will be discussed and particular standards referenced.
